Deep in the forest, hidden from view;
Past towering oak, and sun’s mottled hue,
She lies atop stone, below earth, root and bough.
Sight in the dreaming, hiding the now,
She glimpses the future, her vision true.

Post Re: For what the future brings.....
The room was small and cluttered; books and manuscripts covering what seemed to be every available surface; candles safely ensconced in lantern cases shed golden light across the room, and a small window showed glimpses of the storm that raged in the skies over Terrokar. In the far corner of the room a calico cat lay curled in a tight ball, the slight rise and fall of its sides and the occasional snoring purr the only indicators it still lived. Two chairs were positioned opposite each other in front of a small fireplace, in which flames danced merrily, seemingly oblivious to the wind howling outside.

A slender male elf sat in the chair that faced towards the door leading to the outside, head bent over an ancient and well-worn tome resting on the arm of the chair. Silvery blond hair tied back in a loose ponytail fell over one shoulder as the elf studied the book before him, the words seeming to dance in the shifting light. He frowned and muttered to himself as he read.

“Now, now, Dath’oren, that cannot be correct. An interstitial matrix attached to a transplanar anchorage in the Twisting Nether should simply collapse under its own entropy, not…”

The elf’s words drifted off as he looked around for some parchment and a quill, keen to test his theory. There was a sudden flash of lightning through the window and, accompanied by a loud clap of thunder that seemed to shake the room, the door to the outside flew open. A cloaked and hooded shape stood outlined in the doorframe a moment, before staggering slightly and collapsing to the floor.

Dath’oren rushed over to attend to the figure lying face down, a quick incantation and a gesture towards the door to slam it shut and bar it tightly again from the storm’s fury. He knelt down by the body and rolled it over onto its back, checking for injuries.

The hood fell away as he did so, and in his shock and surprise he nearly dropped the supine figure onto the floor again. Flame-red hair cascaded away from a face he had not seen in years. Dath’oren pressed a slender hand to the figure’s neck to check for a pulse.

“Magister Sukomi? Deiana?”

It's in the trees.
It's coming.

"Do you know why you are here?"

The voice echoed out of the darkness. It seemed to be both everywhere, and nowhere at the same time.

"Do you know what is to come?"

There was a very faint shimmering, almost imperceptible, at the very edge of sight, and slowly two figures became visible. Both were hooded, upright, like statues in their utter stillness. They faced each other, motionless.

"You have slept for so long; perhaps you have forgotten how to speak...forgotten how to be?"

The voice originated from one of the two hooded figures; a faint rising and fall of the hood itself the only indicator of any life. Time passed, perhaps an aeon, perhaps only a few seconds, and the other figure shifted; a brief negative side to side of the hood.

"No....no.....I remember."

This voice was faint, listless, with subtle harmonics that spoke of femininity, or at least the echoes of something that had once been female. With that, it became apparent that the first voice was more masculine, and far more...aware. The first voice came again.

"Good. Good. So much easier for you if you can remember. So much less...painful...in the long run.

But you must remember more, if you are to achieve your aims. Find your way back lost one. Find your way back before it is too late and the way is closed forever."

There was another pause, the blink of an eye, the life and death of an eternity, and the first voice returned.

"And you must do it soon. She is returning you see. She is returning, and she will need allies for the battles that are to come.

She is returning. And she is angry."

”Darry! Daaarrryyy!! Light blast it, wake up you lazy dolt!”

Sunlight streamed through a window into the room, motes of dust dancing in the golden air; the sounds drifting up from outside told of a busy summer’s day in Stormwind.

Clothes lay strewn across the floor, leading a path to a large bed in the far corner, in which two shapes could be made out under the coverings. There was a stirring from one shape as the female voice from below continued its exhortations.

”For the love of the Light, get up! I swear, if I have to come up there and drag you out by your hair….”. The voice trailed off as its owner evidently moved elsewhere, and with a loud groan, a head appeared from under the bed covers. A shock of flame-red hair, tousled from sleep, framed a face still groggy from being woken up.

Darrick looked around sleepily, before turning to the other shape in the bed with him. An impish smile flickered across his face as he lifted the covers to look at his still-sleeping companion. A pair of curved horns curved up from a strong and angular face, one sharply-pointed ear visible. Darrick ran a finger softly along the mustachios that framed the draenei’s mouth, chuckling quietly to himself when his companion twitched and grumbled. Uulavek had been quite the unexpected revelation to Darrick, especially after his unexpectedly urgent departure from the Exodar all those months ago. His mind shied away from the memories of his ‘reunion’ with his sister; some wounds really did not need to be reopened.

Darrick pulled himself up further, looking around as he prepared to finally get up and face the remainder of the day. It was then that he noticed the hooded figure stood in the far corner of the room, utterly motionless and features hidden. The face of the hood turned towards him and, although Darrick could make out nothing of the face beneath the hood, he was sure it stared directly at him.

”Ah, I see you have woken. A pity. I had hoped to complete this discretely.”. The voice that issued from the figure was unmistakeably male, but sounded like no-one Darrick could recall having encountered.

”No matter. It changes nothing. Both you and your…companion”, the figure raised an arm and gestured at the still-sleeping form of Uulavek, ”have been marked and will be dealt with accordingly.”

Still struggling to shake off the last remnants of sleep, it took a moment for the import of the figure’s words to sink in. Darrick gave a shout of alarm and looked frantically around for his blades. It was already too late; the hooded male had already raised one arm and, with a single word, a burst of Nether-fed energy coalesced around the two figures on the bed. Darrick managed one final, strangled yelp before everything faded to black.

The world screams.

A wound festers in its very heart, corrupt and gelid, and the world screams.

Fel-creatures gibber and roar, defiling all that they see, and the world screams for aid.

Alishara answers.
